Temple Architecture

Nagar-style garbha-griha with carved stone doorway. Black basalt Goddess idol, 3 feet tall, surrounded by smaller deities. Stone prakara (compound wall) encloses subsidiary shrines for Hanuman, Shiva, and Ganesha.

Legend

Per folklore, Raja Drupada (Drona's patron) installed the deity. Sati's body-parts fell here during Vishnu's chakra attack. Hence considered a minor Shakti Peeth.
